The health benefits of fruits, vegetables and other plant foods in the diet are becoming more evident each day. The more we learn about the phytochemicals and nutrients present in fruits and vegetables, and the role that diet plays in disease prevention, the healthier food choices we make.

Consumption of more fruits and vegetables can reduce cancer risk, obesity and diabetes, as well as improve cardiac health, bone health, longevity and cognition.

Eating adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables daily will provide a wealth of nutrients. Micronutrients like vitamin C and vitamin A, phytonutrients like lycopene and resveratrol, and indoles in cruciferous vegetables, are being explored for their health potential.
